Two of the region’s most respected farm business advisers have joined forces to form a new firm of chartered surveyors and agricultural valuers.

David Brooks and Chris Leney have worked together for more than 20 years. Between them, they have a wealth of experience, with successful careers spanning over 60 years combined. They have now founded Brooks Leney – advising land and property owners throughout East Anglia.

Mr Leney has been advising farmers throughout East Anglia since the mid-1990s and is secretary of the Suffolk Association of Agricultural Valuers. He is also a member of the CLA’s national Agriculture and Land Use Committee and the Suffolk CLA branch.

Experienced professionals

David Brooks, known as one of the most experienced professionals within the region, carries over 35 years’ experience in providing agricultural valuation and rural surveying services. He is junior vice-president of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV).

Mr Leney, an AMC agent who advises on rural property matters, said: “David and I are both very passionate about what we do and having identified a gap in the market to provide high-quality independent advice to land and property owners, we knew we had to start our own company.”

Joining the team are Simon Smith and Natalie Winspear. Mr Smith will advise clients in all areas of valuation, rural and management, ownership use and occupation. Ms Winspear will handle planning applications from large-scale housing developments through to barn conversations.

Invaluable experience

Mr Brooks said Mr Smith was a trusted associate. He added: “Having both Simon and Natalie on board is great, as the knowledge and experience they’ll bring to the team will be invaluable and will allow us to continue to provide the expert service to our clients.”

Supporting the team are personal assistants Anne Collings and Carol Hickey, who have been working with David and Chris since 2016. While its headquarters will be in Colchester, the team will also have a presence in Ipswich and Eye and will cover the whole of East Anglia.

Offering a diverse range of products and services, Mr Leney said the team team was well equipped to handle all things rural based. Whether it was planning and development, property sales, basic payments or disputes, the team could deal with it, he added.
