Gleadell names preferential supplier for new terminal
Norfolk-based merchants Adams & Howling have been named preferential supplier to Gleadell Agriculture’s new grain terminal at Great Yarmouth.
Matthew Adams, joint managing director at Adams & Howling, said the deal would give growers the best terms available into the port. “This involves fast movement, the facility to deal with high moisture content on a very competitive basis, coupled with various options on movement of grain at harvest and pricing at a later date.”
Gleadell managing director David Sheppard said the partnership agreement also extended to oilseed rape and malting barley storage and marketing, which would also benefit the local farming community.”
Having a destination such as Great Yarmouth on the doorstep would add strength to growers’ marketing position. It would also reduce haulage and handling costs and – in a relatively dry harvest – save the added cost of drying and dressing.”
Gleadell has invested £5m in the Great Yarmouth terminal. It says the facility has already opened up deepwater grain markets and widened global marketing opportunities for the region’s farmers.
