A seminar programme covering a range of financial and technical topics for livestock producers will be a new feature of the East of England Smithfield Festival, thanks to support from HSBC Bank.

The programme will commence with a seminar by HSBC head of agriculture Allan Wilkinson called Financing the Opportunities Open to UK agriculture. The Smithfield name was synonymous with first class prime stock, he said.

“HSBC Agriculture is very pleased to support the development of a seminar programme that means the East of England Smithfield Festival n§ot only displays some of the country’s finest cattle, but helps stimulate debate on the business aspects of producing meat animals.”

Organising committee chairman Charles Horrell said: “Alongside some of the finest livestock, we have a strong line up of trade stands ranging from feedstuffs to veterinary products, from cattle handling facilities to livestock and forage machinery.”

The East of England Smithfield Festival takes place at the East of England Showground, Peterborough on 5-6 December. Gates open at 8am each day and entry is free. For details, visit www.eoesmithfieldfestival.co.uk
