A new tractor-mounted chain trencher should have wide appeal to the farming fraternity with land drainage problems, claims its manufacturer.

Initially designed for sports field drainage where precise working is demanded, Shelton Drainage Solutions is now making an agricultural version of the trencher.

The trencher is attached to the 3 point linkage of a 45hp+ tractor fitted with creep gears or hydrostatic drive capable of a forward speed of around 300m per hour at 540 rpm pto speed.

Capable of digging to a one metre depth, trench width can be varied enabling 60, 80, 100, 125 and 150mm diameter land drainage pipes to be installed.

For accurate falls the digging boom can be laser controlled either manually or automatically.

Shelton Sportsturf Drainage Solutions is renowned for its engineering.

The company has won four Royal Agricultural Society of England silver medals for the design and field performance of equipment it manufactures.

The chain trencher boasts laser-profiled components manufactured to a tolerance of 0.05mm and each machine goes through a rigorous testing procedure prior to despatch to customers.

The Shelton chain trencher may be fitted with a conveyor to carry excavated soil into a trailer or dump truck running alongside, or alternatively a shorter conveyor is fitted to discharge the soil on the right hand side of the trench.

The machine is ideal for farmers and contractors wanting to drain wet areas of fields without huge investment utilising some existing farm machinery. The ex-works price is £13,950.
