Buyers from across the country descended on north Norfolk for a machinery auction at Ringstead.

The Brown & Co auction on Thursday (18 February) included 330 lots of well-maintained arable and livestock equipment.

A John Deere 6910, registered in 2000, proved to be the star lot.

With low hours on the clock, it fell under the hammer for £20,700.

The sale, on behalf of R A Deadman & Son, of Burnham Road Farm, included a full range of equipment from modern tractors to workshop equipment and spares.

Other prime lots included a 2006 Rau Ikarus 24m trailed sprayer, which sold for £16,200.

A tidy 1997 McConnell PA590S hedgecutter was eventually knocked down after fierce bidding for £4,450.

“We had a tremendous turnout and generally prices exceeded all expectations,” said auctioneer Chris Purllant.

“Trade for used farm machinery is very buoyant due to a shortage of supply of quality second-hand equipment, clearly reflected in the prices paid on a cold muddy day in Norfolk.”

Brown & Co’s next farm machinery auction is at Manor Farm, Binham, near Fakenham, on 11 March at 10.30 am.
