The latest innovations in agrochemical application will be on show in a special arena at Cereals – featuring working machine demonstrations from industry-leading manufacturers.

Sponsored by Syngenta, the Sprays and Sprayers Arena will include the opportunity for visitors to discuss their business requirements with exhibitors. A number of different machines will be demonstrated during the two days of the event.

The first day of Cereals will also see the winner announced of the Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year (FSOOTY) award for 2019 – with the champion receiving an expenses-paid study tour of farming and agrochemical application techniques across Europe.

The competition recognises the important role played by sprayer operators –  as well as enhancing their professional development and position within the industry. Entrants from across the country have been battling it out to win the accolade.

Syngenta application specialist Scott Cockburn said those taking part had a huge amount to gain from the competition. He added: “Everyone finds they learn something new from other operators and can improve the way they work.”

Finalists entering the award during the same year frequently remain firm friends – and continue to share their experiences, long after the competition is over. They learn from the experience and from each other – picking up ways of doing the job even better.

Last year’s winner, Andrew Woolley, said: “You get to pick up so many tips and ideas through both the competition and from the other entrants, through videos, social media and meeting up. It’s a really good process and I would strongly recommend anyone to give it a go.”

All finalists win an expenses paid trip for two to the Cereals event presentation, with the overall winner claiming the study tour trip to the continent. In addition, 20 runners-up will win tickets for the Cereals event itself.
