The UK Agri-Tech Centre has appointed Steve McLean as its new chief executive – a role he will take up on 27 January 2026.
Currently head of agriculture sourcing at retailer M&S, Mr McLean he has worked closely with farmers and suppliers to strengthen supply-chain resilience and sustainability.

The UK Agri-Tech Centre supports the development and commercialisation of innovative agricultural technologies. Mr McLean has a background in developing and leading change programmes while at M&S.
Before working for M&S, Mr McClean was chief executive of the Texel Sheep Society.
The society’s current chief executive John Yates said his understanding of farming and the retail sector would be a huge asset.
Looking ahead to his new role, Mr McLean said: “I’m honoured to be joining the UK Agri-Tech Centre at such a pivotal time for British agriculture. The sector is undergoing rapid transformation.”
UK Agri-Tech Centre aims to help farmers meet the challenges of sustainability, productivity and resilience. Chairman Peter Quinn said Mr McLean’s appointment would help the organisation continue to expand its reach and influence.
“Steve’s appointment will be instrumental in building on Hannah’s success, providing strategic leadership to drive growth in the agri-tech sector, and supporting businesses to successfully develop and commercialise their products and services.”
Interim chief executive Hannah Senior will step down from her temporary post but will join the organisation’s board. She said: “It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to work with the UK Agri-Tech Centre on an interim basis.
“We’ve taken huge strides to make the business more impactful in supporting innovative companies. I couldn’t be more pleased that it’s Steve who will be leading the organisation forward to an exciting future.”
